Moon shot!
A couple of days ago, when I was out taking a walk, I was treated to this magnificent view of the full moon hanging just above this radio antenna. The horizon was coloured slightly orange as the sun was beginning to go down causing this breathtaking gradient...
Recently I've been fascinated by taking photos of the moon. I've always been quite drawn to macro photography, a fancy term that really just means taking photos of things at a realistic or larger than life scale, and it just so happens that moon photography fits nicely into that niche. One day I was standing outside and I spotted a beautiful moon just like this, I excitedly pointed my camera at the sky, got the moon into frame, shot my shot and... well, was really disappointed. As it turns out, it is actually quite difficult to take a good photo of what is effectively a bright light bulb against a black sky. This experience sparked my interest in the more technical side of photography and how to use this black box, if you'll forgive the pun, to capture what I am seeing better.
What I learned is that there's a fine balance between the aperture, shutter speed, focus zone and white balance that makes shots like these possible and I had to really dive into them to get the photos that I want! Anyway, that's it for now.
Let's get out there and shoot some more moons!
